HomeStaffHow to Apply

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our summer staff team! We look forward to receiving your application.

The sections below should be a helpful guide to the application and interview process.

When you're ready, complete the online application.

Steps In The Staff Application Process

A200pix13Complete the Online Application
Read through the website. Get excited! Click here and complete a staff application online.
Once we receive your application, our hiring team will review it and offer an interview slot to promising candidates via email. You will be able to choose your interview time. Specific directions to select your date and time will be in the email. Interviews are conducted with one of our directors via Zoom or other face-to-face virtual platform.
Before Your Interview - Resume, References & the "Getting To Know You" form
While you are preparing for your interview, we will ask you to log back in to your staff account (don't worry, we can help if you don't remember making one during the application process) and complete one more section of the staff application, a "getting to know you" form, and upload your resume. Additionally, we will ask you to submit reference contact details (3 professional and 1 personal), if you have not already done so.
Checking References
Once you have applied, and at the latest immediately after your interview is complete, your references will be contacted via email and asked to complete a brief online reference form. Then, we follow up with your referrers by phone. It is essential that we have your references in on time and that they return the online form to us in a timely manner - ideally within 48-72 hours. Should we not be able to contact your references (with your assistance), we will need to continue interviewing candidates as wait for them to arrive.
We notify every candidate about the status of their application. You do not need to call and check in on progress except in the rare case that you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of submitting your application.
Job Offers & Accepting a Role on the Team
We will contact successful candidates with a job offer as soon as possible after the interview, and usually within a week or less if your references have all been verified. Once you receive the notification, we ask that you reach back out to us at your earliest convenience so we can confirm everything and connect with you about the details of joining the team.
You are kindly asked to accept (yay!) or decline your offer as soon as possible but no later than one week after the offer. If you need additional time, you may speak with our hiring team about that, but there is no guarantee that the same position, or any position, will still be available. For this reason, we strongly encourage candidates to think about their interest in accepting the job if offered, once they have completed the full interview.
If you accept a role on the team (which of course we hope you will!), we will send you out more information and a few other forms - some which allow us to complete our first round of background checks, and others to collect info so you can get paid! Then you can get excited about the amazing journey ahead - and all the lives that you will help to change! Then, in June, you join us at camp & make a difference!

About References

200pixpic015In the application form, we request that you provide contact details for three professional references and one personal reference. These individuals will receive an email invitation with a link to complete a secure online reference form. We ask references to complete the electronic form within 48-72 hours.

After your interview, we will follow up with a phone call for each reference to complete the reference check process.

It is courtesy to let your references know that we'll be getting in touch. Please help us facilitate your hiring timeline by letting your references know how important it is for them to complete the form in a timely manner, as well as to get back to us once they are contacted for the phone follow-up.

Your 3 professional references should be completed by people who know you in a professional, leadership, child-care or academic capacity (coaches, work supervisors, teachers, internship preceptors or clergy are some examples). They can not be from friends, peers, RAs in your dorm, student officers in a club you belong to, coworkers, or anyone who can provide you with only a social/character reference. If you aren't sure if a reference is appropriate, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

About the Interview Process

st200 23Interviews are conducted via phone as well as over "face-to-face" tech such as Zoom, Skype, etc. During the interview, we will ask you a number of questions about your work experience, your general interests, and how you could foresee yourself handling a few circumstances that might occur at camp.

While we do share some details during the interview, this time is not designed to explain the basics of working at camp, so we recommend reviewing both the information on the website and any "preparing for your interview" information we will email you. The interview is, however, designed to answer important questions you may have, so we also recommend that you think about and create a list prior to the appointment. You should expect an initial phone screen/first interview to last anywhere from 15-35 minutes and a full interview to last anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
